Maple Dale Country Club – Let’s Do Trivia! – Blurb from 1/29/26

John here! Thanks for putting up with me the last 2 weeks. Thursday night at Par & Plate delivered the kind of tight, slow‑burn thriller Maple Dale is becoming famous for. Eight teams, 42 players, and a scoreboard that refused to give anyone breathing room. By halftime, NY State of Minds and The Men Are Driving Because the Women Are Getting Hammered were locked in a 44–44 dead heat, with Nuclear Donuts and Swarming Hornets stalking just behind. The room had that perfect Maple Dale hum — relaxed, chatty, and just competitive enough to make every point feel earned. 😎

The second half turned into a grind‑it‑out chess match. NY State of Minds pulled ahead to 81, with R.I.P Rich and Nuclear Donuts sitting at 75 apiece and waiting to pounce. But then came the final question… and the final question came for everyone. A clean sweep of incorrect answers across all eight teams — a rare Let's Do Trivia! moment where the entire room groaned in unison.

But strategy matters:

  • NY State of Minds protected their lead with a tiny 4‑point wager and finished at 77, taking the night and the $40 tie‑breaker crown.
  • Nuclear Donuts held onto second with 69.
  • R.I.P Rich landed third at 55.
  • The Men Are Driving… claimed fourth with 51.
  • Angry raisins and Swarming Hornets tied at 50, proving symmetry can be beautiful.
  • No shot (35) and newbies Travel Buddies (34) rounded out the standings with admirable enthusiasm and maximum table‑energy.

It was a night of fun and laughter at Maple Dale CC last 3rd place for the night. We had 3 new teams out to play. It would be great to have a couple more join us for a REALLY BIG night.  Angry Raisins jumped out early with a great On Time Bonus Question answer, but, the Hobbes Fan Club got their game on a roll and lead the game at Halftime by 7 points over The Men Are Driving Cause The Women Are Gettin’ Hammered and Angry Raisins, who were tied in 2nd place. The 2nd half of the game was a Battle Royale that found The Men Are Driving Cause The Women Are Gettin’ Hammered in 1st place as we went into Final Bonus. They kept the lead and took the 1st place prize for the night. 🌿 Maple Dale Country Club – Let’s Do Trivia – Blurb from 1/22/26 The fourth edition of Thursday night trivia at Par & Plate brought 41 players across 7 teams , a room full of loyalists and newcomers alike, and a vibe that’s slowly evolving into something special — like a signature cocktail with just the right twist. 🍸🧠 At halftime, The Men Are Driving Because the Women Are Getting Hammered led the pack with 41 points , proving once again that long team names carry long-term momentum. Angry Raisins and NY State of Minds were close behind, while Bestidos and Sunset Meadows were still warming up — possibly distracted by the sausage-stuffed mushrooms , which remain literally amazing . 🍄🔥In fact, in honor of the best mushroom I've ever put in my mouth since that Grateful Dead show at JFK stadium in '82 (I never did find my car), draw a stuffed mushroom for your Round Secret Art Bonus and earn 3 points for the effort!  The second half saw a surge from Nuclear Donuts ...

Maple Dale Country Club- Let's Do-Blurb from 2/23/2026

It was a big night last Thursday at Maple Dale CC with 10 Teams out to play the game. The snow was melting and people found their way to the warmth of the fun that is Let’s Do Trivia!!  The Outsiders came out in full strength and started our game off with a big laugh and earning the one extra point to start the game. They lead the way with NY State Of Mind, Jet Jammers, and Charlie Horse Don’t Slam The Door joining them in first place by the time we got to Halftime.  After regulation, Charlie Horse Don’t Slam The Door was in first place all alone, Angry Raisins held the 2nd place slot, and the 3rd place slot was a tie between NY State Of Mind and The Outsiders. After the last points were tallied, The Other Side Of The Tracks had moved from 6th to 1st place, 3 Amigos came up from 8th place to finish 2nd, and Charlie Horse Don’t Slam The Door wagered conservatively to finish in 3rd place.  THIS WEEK’S “I READ THE BLURB IN THE NEWSLETTER’ QUESTION IN ROUND 2 QUESTION 1, Draw...
